Fillers, wrinkles, injections.. dispel those myths

Dr Nishel Patel describes two fantastic approaches to revitalising your skin, enhancing your complexion and helping you look great for your age. Botox and fillers, you will have heard of them but do you actually know what they are?

Although both injectables, they’re two very different things. Botox relaxes muscles and is primarily used to reduce wrinkles caused by intense facial expressions. Areas such as in between the eyes (the frown lines) are the perfect place for Botox because those wrinkles are caused by continuous muscle movement. Fillers, on the other hand, add volume to lift the face and can smooth targeted folds and wrinkles such as marionette lines. Fillers can also be used to add volume to the lips and structure to the face.

If you’re one of the many who hear the word ‘filler’ and think overdone cheekbones and huge lips, then it’s time to reconsider. When done right, fillers – most of which are made of hyaluronic acid, an element that’s already in the skin – are a minimally invasive, totally reversible way to restore lost volume in the face. Some of Dr Patel’s treatments use between 5-10 syringes or millilitres. The look is to enhance and beutify, his aim is to make you look great for your age not young for your age; being overdone just simply is not in his vocabulary.

A signature treatment at Skinesse is called the Skinesse lift. This aims to target tired skin, dark eye circles or bags or superficial wrinkles. Very superficially placed micro droplets of high quality Hyaluronic acid are placed in problem areas with the aim to increase the skins’ quality, elasticity and tensile strength. The procedure is comfortable, safe and produces radiant and long-lasting results. For more information on the Skinesse lift or any aspect of Cosmetic Medicine please visit www.skinesse.co.uk
